Why? Those are conflicting investments...

Edit: I guess not entirely, but kinda.

Depends. Your interest goes down on a mortgage but you just got more competition now.

In NYC it's hard enough winning a bid vs cash buyers, now you have mortgage buyers to compete with too. So hopefully you have a good 20% down and a good credit score or else you're fucked.

But on the other hand, there's more inventory in NYC than ever before, so that should work in your favor.

Overall I'd say it's a good thing for you bc you're likely going to have a mortgage and pay less interest than you would've.

The places I’m looking at generally aren’t attracting foreign money, which is good. I am definitely in a good place with regards to 20% down and credit score is very high.

I think this is a good time to be buying. Shit really isn’t moving at the moment. Just need to find someone who’s desperate.

Now is a great time to buy in NYC. What's frustrating though is people who are selling are holding onto their value, they refuse to adjust to the market bc they're being stubborn. To be fair to them, even though there's more inventory now, NYC was the only place in the entire country that didn't see real estate dip in value over the past year, so they have reason to believe they can hold on and get more money from someone. They have less incentive to cave. NYC real estate is gold so I don't really blame them.

But it's still a buyers market bc of the inventory.

I'm trying to buy a house next year but sf bay area is stupid. Nothing decent stays on the market for long. I want a real piece of shit because I can fix it up easily.

Depends on the REIT I would say, but it is where everyone seems to be flocking.

My problem is that my various retirement accounts have jack shit for things to diversify into. So annoying.

There was a job I kind of wanted (very slight raise but really just for the change of scenery) but I forgot to apply and it closed.

Where's everyone investing now? I've got about 10% of my portfolio in cash from just selling a stock and need ideas where to put it. Or should I just leave it cash and wait for another correction that's bound to happen shortly?
