I'd like to get a computer in an mini-itx/mini-tower case. I don't know that I feel confident enough to build one.

Any recommendations on companies/sites that would be reliable?

Yes, I am (East Dallas represent). You joke, but I would seriously consider it. Or at least just invite you over to my house and offer you beer/food in exchange for helping.

Tom's Hardware is usually the best place to go to find the right build. They usually have up to date builds for a range of budgets and is just a generally trustworthy site.

I find these YouTube PC build guys pretty annoying, but they're really helpful if you're trying to learn.

I am a fucking moron and after buying parts for my computer that all seemed compatible and doing less research than I should have I was terrified when I had all the pieces together and was sure I would fuck it all up and have wasted far too much money on a computer that would barely work if at all. It turned out it wasn't as hard as I was worried it would all be. Empowering once I got it all to work tbh. I made sure my CPU was compatible with the motherboard, ensured the GPU would be as well, picked up internal SSD on sale, and some serious RAM. It was all pretty intuitive and it seems there are some good vids linked above that would help. I believe in you Brent, it's doable. My computer runs like a fucking dream.

It's kinda like Legos but with a lot of due diligence beforehand.

Applying the thermal paste might be the "hardest" part

Building a computer is super easy 90% of the time thanks to YouTube. It's the 10% that's a pain in the ass if you don't know what you're doing and have to try and figure out which component is fucked. A lot of builders will offer cheap assembly fees ($50) when you buy the parts through one distributor, at least in Australia. That might be a good option depending on where you are located.

I love making mini builds on newegg and such, what is your goal and price range, I was selling old Dells with more RAM and a GPU which were solid little machines for bit

Also prebuilt aren't the worst value in the world anymore so you won'y entirely get ripped off going that route

Bought Warhammer recently, playing with IP masking (found one in Cooltechzone directory https://cooltechzone.com/sitemap) and enjoying my life.

Adobe Premiere, I don't think anything else really comes close. I have used Openshot which was not horrible if you are just cutting up clips and such. Warning about Openshot though is it will just randomly close so save often

Anyone want to play some Mechwarrior 4: Mercs this weekend? found a free download

I like being able to have choice in the parts and I cannot stand how all the prebuilts come with bloatware.

Ya I just meant on a $ per part basis. They often have a much better CPU than they need and a shitty power supply which could ruin everything, but most come with a 2 year warranty

I'm buying a new laptop and deciding between two computers that are almost identical (same SSD, CPU etc) but there are a few differences

2400MHz ram vs 2100 MHz ram
13 hour battery vs 11 hour battery
92% screen-to-bezel vs 86% screen-to-bezel

Would you rather save $150US and get the inferior laptop?
