Do any of you encounter people that hesitate when getting on an escalator or going through a revolving door? Like they are worried if they don't do it at the right time they will get caught and die, and it's both hilarious and infuriating.

Unfortunately I did, and I am not. That was a sweet set up though coming back from college. Student loan payments hurt a lot less when rent wasnít a factor.

Congratulations fam. All jokes aside, there's nothing wrong with living with your parents as you sort shit out. I'm all for it.

Things I've learned and will fully advocate to any young adult:

1. If you don't know what you want to do or if money is a factor, go to community college for a year or two to get your gen eds out of the way.

2. Don't be ashamed to move back with your parents after school or when you are <25 if they will let you. There's no reason to rush into living in a place you can't afford that young, get your life and finances sorted while you can for little/no cost.

I agree with both points. I'd add though that sometimes in order to know what you want to do, you kind of need to get into an industry and feel out the whole work environment first. If you have an idea of what industry you want to get into but not sure what kind of roles you want in that industry, just land anything in that industry and by osmosis you'll get a feel of where you want to take your career.

We change jobs/careers mid career all the time anyway. It's important to feel the life and see how you respond to it.

I hesitate at revolving doors if I’m going to man up and be honest. If the gap isn’t big enough I’m not risking the embarrassment but I’m embarrassing myself either way so. Some people enter them so ferociously

Oh I'm not talking like quick hesitation waiting for the next opening, I meant like a full 5-10 second wait where like you get a whole revolution of the door in before entering. I'm probably 60/40 on jumping in vs. letting one opening go because it might be too close of a gap.

Any hesitation at an escalator is always funny to me though.

If that subway door has an inch opening I'm absolutely finding a way to shove my whole entire body through it so I can catch the train.

On a slightly related topic do millennials ever say thanks or excuse me in public.

Tourists in NYC absolutely blow at walking, full stop, but they are especially troubled by revolving doors.

all the time, maybe too much tbh. This is how I get to the front of the stage during raves, just apologies as I walk through people, they don't seem to mind because I'm so apologetic.

I say please and thanks a lot, probably excuse me less than I should. I'm actually more inclined to say please or thank you to a stranger than I am to a friend or coworker.

Real tough, flexing your muscles at a guy who's bones are made out of aluminum foil. Even if the elder is a senile racist asshole, I give it a pass. Old people deserve a pass. Their brains don't function properly anymore you just gotta let that shit slide.

NYC I'm sure gets the high volume for obvious reasons but this is tourists everywhere. Here during the summer you can't walk down the sidewalk without zig zagging them stopping in the middle of the crowd flow to take pictures of the tall buildings.

When I'm a tourist somewhere I get overly anxious about getting out of people's way when needing to stop to look at a map or take a picture. I also hate being with a group who is not self aware of how loud or intrusive they are when visiting somewhere, it stresses me out.

Chicago in the summer is awesome. Really enjoyed my time there. I'm guessing it's terrible in the winter but I had a good time.
