I’ve done Iceland twice. Once for NYE and once on a bachelor party. Highly recommend

The above said, there are some incredible, iconic things to see there. I’d definitely make it somewhere to see before you die, just not sure it’s top of the list.
Perhaps this sounds sophomoric but the lady and I definitely seize the opportunity to party on the rare occasion we can get away. This is really good to know so thank you.

Any other recommended domestic or abroad alternatives for a combination of scenic allure and decent partying would be appreciated if anyone finds a second to throw some shit out there. I’m burned out on Florida; that’s all I know.

I'd highly recommend Japan for a good party and cool old buildings, however if you're specifically looking for a New Year's trip, not ideal. The whole country practically shuts down for New year's.

I have been wanting to go to Tokyo because I understand it to be an elite food city.

Guess this should go in the travel thread...

JetBlue has business class flights from Seattle to Boston (And other select coast to coast flights) with lay flat seats (Mint cabin) for $200+ cheaper than any other airline offers for standard recliner seats. So I'm going to Boston in October now.

Oh and if you book early enough you can reserve the 1 of the 4 available Mint Suite seats in the 1x1 rows that have doors and shot tons of room, for the same price.

Is travel insurance ever worth it? Context is two weeks in Indonesia.

It covers way less than you think it would, so generally it is not. A lot of people think you can just decide to not go, get a doctors note and get reimbursed and it’s far from that easy.

Also, my usual winter LA trip is this weekend. Very much looking forward to some warm weather.

Yeah, not going to go with it. I was thinking it would be a good idea because coronavirus, but the fine print says you only qualify for "Cancel for any reason" if you buy the plan within 21 days of initial travel purchase. Unfortunately I bought the tickets months ago so that's out.

You should research the health system of the country you are going to first before deciding. When I go to USA I 100% get travel insurance because if I break my arm I don't want a five figure hospital bill. Also some countries that have universal health care have exclusions for non-citizens.

Do you have a credit card that has travel insurance as an included perk?

This is a good point. Luckily it seems Indonesia takes care of tourists relatively well from a medical standpoints:

Quote:
The cost of medical care in Indonesia remains cheap by international standards: a visit to the ER of a top hospital in a major city will start at around 500,000Rp (~$36) for a minor treatment.
I'll skip it and just hope coronavirus doesn't spread too much and put me out thousands of dollars.
