Default 2020 Forum Offseason Discussion Thread

It's that time of year for a Forum Offseason. Below I've listed the rules, but I'd be willing to listen to any other suggestions and may change some of them before we begin. Feel free to contact me if you need any further clarification, explanations, etc.

1.) Applications/Team Assignments:
- To apply for a team, please send a PM with your top three team choices and your mobile # for ease of contact. Please also indicate if you're willing to GM multiple teams.
- I would like to have all of the teams assigned by this weekend so we can begin in earnest next week.

2.) Roster Management:
- All teams must remain under the salary cap all offseason.
- We will be using https://overthecap.com/calculator/ to manage the cap.
- After making your team’s first-round selection, you must subtract funds to pay for your draft pool, which can be found at https://overthecap.com/draft/ (round to nearest $0.5m)
- Each team is allowed a total of three combined restructures/June 1st cuts.
- Players can be retired with a source indicating that they are considering retirement. For salary cap purposes, we will cut them from the roster.
- Designate any Franchise Tag players, Transition Tag players, or RFA/ERFA tenders on the column on the right of the calculator.
- Post your roster in the Depth Chart thread along with your updated remaining Cap Space after each roster move in order to keep track.

3.) Free Agency - Overview
- Free agency is separated into three different waves, two pre-draft and one post-draft.
- It will be conducted through a live bidding system, spending one day on each wave.
- Teams must make their initial bid on a player at least three hours before the day’s deadline.
- At the end of the day, some players with heavy bidding leading up to the deadline may remain in the FA pool.
- Tiebreakers within $0.5 million AAV will be made in this order of importance: (1) contract length (same value only), (2) statement of interest in a team (provide link), (3) winning team, (4) current team.
- Bids should only include total length and total value. For the sake of simplicity, we do not deal with guarantees, incentives, options, etc.

4.) Free Agency - Waves
- First Wave Rules:
-- Contract offers must be at least three-years in length with a minimum AAV of 50% of the Franchise Tag value. (See below list for specifics.)
-- QBs, Kickers, and Punters age 35 or older may be offered deals two-years in length during this wave. Please indicate the player's age in your initial offer if this applies.
-- All offers for Franchise/Transition Tagged players and RFAs should be made during this period, and tendering teams should decide whether they want to match the offer or allow the player to sign elsewhere.
- Second Wave Rules:
-- Contract offers must be at least two-years in length with a minimum AAV of 33% of the Franchise Tag value. (See below list for specifics.)
-- All players age 32 or older may be offered one-year deals. Please indicate the player's age in your initial offer if this applies.
- Third Wave Rules:
-- Third Wave will take place after the draft.
-- All contract offers are for one-year only with no minimum offer. Minimum offers will not count toward the salary cap.
-- Teams may sign a maximum of three undrafted free agents, with a one-hour cooldown period between signings.
- Minimum offer amounts are as follows:
-- First wave: QB $13.5m, RB $6m, WR $9m, TE $5.5m, OL $8m, DE $10m, DT $7.5m, LB $8m, CB $8m, S $6.5m, ST $2.5m
-- Second wave: QB $9m, RB $4m, WR $6m, TE $3.5m, OL $5m, DE $6.5m, DT $5m, LB $5.5m, CB $5.5m, S $4m, ST $1.5m

5.) Trade Approval:
- Pick-for-Pick trades can be made without approval. Both sides should post the agreed terms in the Transactions thread to make it official.
- Trades involving a player must be approved. Both sides should send me a PM with the terms for approval. I will post it in the Transactions thread once approved.

6.) The Draft:
- Teams will have two-hours to make first round picks, one-hour to make second and third round picks, and thirty minutes for all day three picks.
- The clock will run from 8:00am to 10:00pm eastern.
- I will do my best to text GMs before their time is up, but ultimately, the responsibility for making your picks falls to you. I do have a life outside of the forum as well as work, so I cannot guarantee that you will be texted, but I will make my best effort. Feel free to PM me big boards if you feel you may miss your pick.

If anyone has any feedback on the rules based on previous years or would like to propose changes, please let me know.

And yes, even if I've texted you in the past, please include your cell number in your application. I've had a PM saved with a good 40+ numbers dating back to the old forum (adding a couple each year) but accidentally deleted it when cleaning up my PMs after last year's Forum Mock.

We have 13 teams filled by my last count and at least half of the people are willing to GM more than one. Let's try to get a few more sign-ups.

I try to avoid taking multiple teams for timezone reasons, but could do so if necessary.

A few are still trickling in. I'll give people until this afternoon.

We'll use the weekend to get rosters in order as well as apply tags and RFA tenders. Maybe we can look to start the first wave of free agency Monday.

Here is what I have so far. I gave people what they requested in their top 3 choices. I took the four teams without first round picks since they probably weren't going to be picked. None are likely to be especially active in FA either other than retaining some folks, so they should be easy for me to run while I also run the offseason.

If you're interested in a second or third team, pick from what is left. If someone new comes along and wants one, I'll have them talk to you about taking one off your hands.

I'll take ATL. I don't think ATLDirtyBirds is around anymore, it's he?

I texted Dirty Thirty to see if he wants WAS.

Boy, the Chargers and the Vikings have a TON of important free agents. Difference is the Chargers have cap space. They also have a lot of young guys I remember liking a lot in the draft and haven't heard much about since.
