I was very confused by that trailer but is it portraying Scorpion as a good guy? If so, I can't buy it.

I have a soft spot for the original. I think my friends and I watched it about 10 times in the theater. Logo comes up, theme starts blasting.

On hopes of more, I actually dragged my mom to watch MK Annihilation. Wow, probably the worst movie I have ever seen. Like not even MST3K salvageable. It's so bad it's good, then hurtles past good to bad again.

But this was a pretty damn good trailer, didn't really get much of the story, but glimpsed enough to draw interest.

Mortal Kombat had the best soundtrack of any movie in 1995. I'll put it up against whatever you can name. It went double platinum for a reason. Something about the combination of high energy EDM against ninjas murdering each other works together like peanut butter and jelly. KMFDM! It doesn't get better than that.

I've seen well over two thousand movies in my life, none of them have a more hype inducing opening minute than Mortal Kombat.

There's a ton of reasons Annihilation sucked fucking shit. I still don't understand how it cost 30 million dollars because it looks considerably cheaper than the original. Johnny Cage getting killed in the opening scenes is definitely one of the biggest fuck you moments I can recall as an audience member and it also sucks he's not going to be in this new movie. They made the lead some original character that's not in any of the games. My friend theorizes he's a sacrificial lamb and only there to die to set the stakes so Sonya and Liu Kang and the gang can shine.

Also, they're not topping Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung so they really should've just given him the part again.

I agree on all accounts. Flawless victory. I understand the vision, but you can just pull things from the original and no one would ever fault you.

They should also have added Mark Dacascos too. Just the plays off Iron Chef alone, and he knows what he is doing.

No, they should only use Tagawa for Tsung. But also because Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa is a good character actor.
