Don't look at the prices on the site though. You can get a pair of seconds for like $200 all year.

Also, I recently got a pretty cool 1960s refurbished Hamilton Thin-o-matic on ebay for relatively cheap.

AE has seconds outlets on their website you can buy directly from. You need to reach out to one that's close to you, ask for a list of what they have available, and they'll send you a spreadsheet of what they have and what the price is.
Make sure you ask for what's available in your size to help narrow down the list. |

Something else you can try for nice shoes is eBay. Find a store and try out some shoes like AE or Alden or whatever, figure out what lasts and sizes fit your feet, then scour the interwebs. I've struck out a few times but my big win was NWT $385 boots for $160 on the bay.
I've seen a number of AE shoes at Nordstrom Rack in the sub-$150 range. And not the AE by Allen Edmonds that are made in the DR. |

Yeah, ebay does work, but is a pain. You could try the StyleForum buy and sell section too.

Anyone know a good place to buy watch parts? Need some good spring bars and thinking about upgrading my crystal. Watch blew up when it got caught on a door handle and my wrist has been naked for a long time.

I need to polish my brown shoes but I'm afraid of getting the wrong polish and ruining them.
Black is so easy bc...black. But these aren't dark brown. They're not mustard, they're not dark brown, they're like in btw. And I don't know what polish to get. |

Just always go a little lighter when in doubt. Medium brown should be fine.

One black brush, one brown. That's all you need.

During lunch break I googled shoe polishing tutorials just to see how other people to do it, and jeez, some people spend a ton of time doing this.
That's overkill for me, I don't have the patience for all of that. All I do is put it in a shoe tree, take the laces out, clean it with a leather conditioner to strip the old polish and clean the dirt off, use a toothbrush to get around the sole when cleaning, then apply a layer of polish evenly throughout the shoe, let it sit for like half an hour, and then use my polishing brush to buff it. That's it. These guys who spit shine their shoes spend hours doing it. That's too much for me. |
