So like.. how long before we start pretending like there's a discussion about which QB should go first?

Felt like it waited till the post-season for RG3, but seems like it's already being mentioned in the 'way too early' articles.

Trevor Lawrence would’ve gone 1 overall in the 2019 and 2020 drafts and anyone who says he won’t go 1 overall in this draft is just trying to get clicks or just trying to hype up another prospect.

Stranger things have happened. They always want a narrative.

The best corollary is Luck. He was the heir apparent, and RG3 almost eclipsed him. Add in the rookie year, but fate intervened.

Looking back on it, Luck is NFL tragedy on a Shakespeare scale. As perfect a QB prospect you could make, and carried a misbuilt team for far too long. The irony is once the GM he needed was in place, the damage was done.

Just imagine if Calvin Johnson was slightly a head case. That lions regime gets sick of him and jettisons him. Then he finds a team that remembers he is Megatron. Randy Moss would have been fine, but bouncing around and have his Pats season cementing everything.

Leinart could’ve went #1 in 2005 and possibly even 2004, then he fell to the 10th pick after his senior season. It’s happened before so it’s not impossible, but Lawrence doesn’t look to have any real competition at the moment. But he is a bible thumper and that is a red flag for QB’s, possibly his only red flag right now

This is the scare factor. But from recency bias, at worst Lawrence will be Tua which is a nice floor.

Plus if Lawrence is Philip Rivers with a competent GM, that is first overall pick material all day.

I don't know that it was close except for contrarians on the internet. The only real knock on Luck at that point was that he is/was pretty ugly and grew one of history's worst beards.

I generally agree. Even with rougher production last year, he's still very nearly a perfect qb prospect.

It will be interesting. He's got some competition in Fields. Then there are a couple guys who could rise up like Ehlinger and Mond. And you never know with some of the next-in-line guys like Myles Brennan.

There’s a few. Tebow, Cousins, The Carrs, Wentz, I’m gonna take a wild guess and assume Rivers. I’m sure there more I’m forgetting. There seems to be a direct correlation with those guys and shitting the bed when it counts, for the most part anyways.
