Why Is Biden Raising Millions in Corporate Cash for a Virtual Inauguration?

The Presidential Inaugural Committee will allow individual donations up to $500,000 and corporate donations up to $1 million. For what?

Google is facing a lawsuit from the U.S. government, with a*Facebook lawsuit*on the way. The departure of Ajit Pai as chair of the Federal Communications Commission could lead to the restoration of net neutrality protections, preventing Comcast and AT&T from charging to deliver content through its broadband pipes. Countless other corporations have business before the federal government, from hospitals to banks, from pharmaceutical manufacturers to insurance and real estate companies, and many more.

All these corporations can now give up to $1 million, directly, to support the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in January. Presidential inaugural committees (PICs) are unlike political campaigns in that they can take direct corporate contributions. The*Biden committee, announced on Monday as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, allows corporate donations up to $1 million and donations from individuals up to $500,000. Moreover, we won’t know the identities of these donors until 90 days after the inauguration.

Next we covered the election results. I said I was both frustrated and gravely concerned about how the GOP is continuing to advance disproved conspiracy theories regarding the integrity of the election. Senator Johnson said that he knew and accepted the fact that Joe Biden had won. I asked why he wouldn’t say so at a moment when Trump was taking a sledgehammer to the very foundation of our democracy. Senator Johnson replied that the institutions of our democracy are strong enough to withstand what is going on. This response shocked me, since it suggested that the truth was ultimately unimportant and that Sen. Johnson viewed what the president was doing as someone else’s problem.

She kept interrupting the questions and then accusing the legislature of doctoring the voting records.

Also the whole Trump legal decisions and actions are pretty hilarious with all the errors they present, and even judges are saying they can't even review the filings because they don't have relevant info or ask for anything they can rule on. They also keep saying they are "still putting together" all the evidence and definitely have a lot to present, but whenever they are asked for it they just trot out a few random people as witnesses.
