i "churned" through 2 cashback promo cards recently and idk if i wanna go through the hassle again. i used to just have 1 CC and now i have added stress of figuring out which one to use to maximize my category-based rewards since i usually only carry a CC and a debit card.

also i'm going back and forth on if i should cancel one of the churned cards.

i really should though.

Before canceling always see if you can downgrade to a card with no annual fee. Canceling isn't the end of the world, but if you start really churning you want to avoid closing accounts whenever possible.

So I had a capital one platinum mastercard for three years. It didnt have any rewards. Decided to message them to see if I could upgrade it. Turned out I was allowed to upgrade for quite some time. Upgrading to Capital One Quicksilver which is 1.5% back on every purchase. While not as great as yall, feels good to be moving up in the world.

Nice. Once you have your loans off the books I'm sure you can push on further and earn some free flights.

Just figuring it out like you guys... Nowadays when me and friends eat I charge it to my card, and have everyone pay me in chinese money. I get the cash back / rewards, and everyone is good. Trying to be smart about shit.

i talked with some old friends who said they've churned through chase ink business cards, without being a business owner.

and then i thought banks want more accounts so their verification process is probably lax. is this true?

The Quicksilver is a solid card before you can to the next level. Getting cashback on everything (even bills and sometimes rent) is a nice carrot. Once you get to that next level, you're golden.

These intro point bonuses. I can pay rent with them right? Has anyone not had it go through?

I would assume it depends on your landlord. I always had to link to a bank account for online payments.

from my experience, usually there's a fee if you pay rent by credit card or the lord only takes a checking account

Yeah, I've never been fortunate enough to have a landlord accept credit card w/o applying a 3-5% fee which just isn't worth it in most scenarios. If you aren't a big spender, that would be an absolute game changer.

I usually just use my CC, in this situation, as a debit card and pay it off every couple days until I hit the threshold.

It costs about 3% for most places to process a credit card, so anywhere that doesn't charge it is basically eating it. For a landlord that's a decent margin to give up when you can be paid electronically for close to nothing.

Oh yeah, 100% understand it from their perspective. Also you guarantee more stable tenants if you require a checking account to be linked.

i'd browse nerdwallet.com

the best card for you depends on how you prioritize cashback, travel rewards, or an introductory offer (e.g. spend $3k in the first 3 months and get $200)

i found out recently, no thanks to you chumps when i asked, that it's pretty easy to sign up for the chase ink business cards if you choose sole proprietorship and put in small income, as if you sell on ebay.

i also found out about the chase trifecta/quadfecta so i'm planning on getting a few more chase cards in the coming months.

Finally hit my 4 year points anniversary w/ Chase Sapphire. Time to secure the bag w/ the Sapphire Preferred aka the best deal in credit cards.

Basically you can't get a Chase Sapphire bonus if you've received one in the last 4 years. I finally hit my 4 years, so cashing in. Chase Sapphire Preferred gives 60k bonus points for a $95 AF, which is an insane deal. Especially when I am not traveling and don't need the Reserve's benefits at all.

That's good to know. It's probably been close to 4 years from when I signed up for the card with that deal. Is there an easy place to find out if you're eligible on their website?
