Figured we’d need this sooner or later. QB class should be much much better than this years, and overall I like the skill position players a lot more too.
Name drop anyone I should add to the OP

Avery Young is a legit Rutgers prospect. He was a safety last year, but was more effective as a CB the 3 years before. I'm hoping we move him back to CB.
(Shane has him going in his first round in his 2023 mock, so it's not just homerism!) |

Cedric Tillman is my #1 WR for next year. This is seriously the most excited I've been for a Vols player since I saw Tyler Bray's back tattoo.

Tyrique Stevenson (CB) is Miami's 2nd best prospect. Cristobal will probably get DJ Scaife drafted too.

Out of Stanford you have 3 possible good prospects
CB Kyu Blue Kelly He is a baller. He is easily on track to get drafted and has the size and ability that will get him a real look QB Tanner McKee He easily has the tools to interest the NFL. His arm makes all of the NFL throws easily. His foot speed is way too slow however and he has clear difficulties making plays off script because he has trouble escaping a rush. He's also a touch older because he went on mission (not sure his actual age because Stanford doesn't release it because its personally identifying information.) If he has a better year with better blocking he has a real shot at jumping up because of his size and arm. TE Benjamin Yurosek He looks are plays like the next quality Stanford TE. I think he has the movement and skill to be an NFL type guy. Maybe needs more bulk but he should be a solid prospect by next draft. |

What does everyone here think about C.J. Stroud? He's the first player I'm looking at. So far, I almost think of him as a reverse Haskins or something (RIP). I felt like Haskins was someone who did a good job of executing the offense as designed but, despite having a big arm, a lot of his deeper throws tended to sail on him. With Stroud, it's the opposite. You'll see him setting his feet and turning down a primary read that looks good or an open checkdown to throw down the field. He throws with pretty good touch and reasonable accuracy deep, so it often works out, but a lot of the time it seemed like he had something more reliable he could do that was more within the play structure. His arm talent may not quite be Haskins/Fields to me either. Good touch, velocity is not as impressive. Then again, I have only seen a couple of games so far.

I like Stroud. I watched their last few games last season and it seems like he’s definitely the best QB prospect that they’ve put out. I like him way more than Bryce Young.
I’m hoping this past Patriots draft was used to tank for Will Anderson. Will also settle for Jalen Carter. Jordan Battle will also be the best safety prospect since Sean Taylor. |

I watched Stroud like once last year and my detailed scouting report was that he looks dope and I think he will be good in the NFL.

Weaknesses would be: very inconsistent mechanics in the lower body leading to accuracy issues, opting for difficult throws instead of running the play as designed and getting easier completions, forcing risky throws instead of giving up on plays. Those things could be improved with experience, so it's definitely possible he ends up as a nice starting quarterback. We shouldn't necessarily expect him to play with polish in his first year as a starter. But right now he doesn't look close to playing with the overall accuracy/consistency/decision-making NFL teams need. Since we only have one year of tape on him, this year is really important because we need to see what his development trajectory looks like. If he looks basically the same this year and then declares, I'll consider him a risky pick. If he plays more under control, he'll look like a high-upside pick with a favorable trajectory. |

So I've watched four of Stroud's games now (Michigan, Michigan St., Oregon, Penn St.) I think a lot of people's evaluations will be based on which games they watch. Easily his most efficient game was Michigan St., but it's also a game where everything went well. Clean pockets, lots of easy screens, receivers running wide open downfield, etc. For that reason, it's kind of hard to evaluate. The Michigan game was the opposite. He was under pressure in the game and made a lot of poor decisions/throws. At least two of his passes should have been intercepted (one terrible decision, one bad throw), and he also missed Ruckert (I believe) on a wide open touchdown.

Andre Carter II is going to be very interesting come draft time. At least day 2, if not day 1, physical tools...but what happens with that military commitment when teams evaluate?
Also, who wants to take a guess at the next "decent, decent, record-breaker" QB prospect? We've seen it two straight years now with Trask and Pickett where they had final season explosions.
