Once had an argument with someone who insisted eggs were dairy because they were in the same section as milk at the grocery store. I think it's way more common of a belief than we want to admit for humanity.

Trenton Simpson is a weird evaluation. Never seen a weakside linebacker play on the edge, in the slot, and even at free safety as much as him. Trouble is, he doesn't have many linebacker traits and he's not even that solid in coverage. Kind of reminds me of a poor man's Ryan Shazier or something.

Teams have also cooled a little bit on those athletic, roving linebacker types since we saw, for example, the Steelers trade up for Devin Bush. JOK is that exact same type of player and fell into the 2nd.

Thanks, that's interesting, I'll have to look into it more. Su'a Cravens also comes to mind as a good comparison, especially in the usage.

So Malik Cunningham seems like a Lamar Jackson-Lite. Smaller, but that doesn't matter as much these days. Day 2 pick type?

Hall looks pretty spiraly coming out that’s for sure. Easier to think of him with it coincidentally being Louisville also. To be clear he was my first thought too

Nolan Smith out for the year with a torn pectoral. Luckily not the kind of injury that should hurt his draft stock too much.

Jahmyr Gibbs benched against Ole Miss for some reason, hasn’t played second half

BTW, in case anyone is interested: the reason I haven't been posting scouting reports this year is because I'm going to be making another website's draft guide, so the reports will appear there instead. Things are going pretty smoothly so far, will let you know when it's coming up. The first copy might be around January.

Sounds great, always appreciate your work. January is when most of us will start to dig in anyway.

Yeah no worries, just let us know when it's available so we can check it out. That's pretty great for you!

Iowa doesn't have many guys graduating/draftable but will be interested to see everyone's thoughts on a few guys that may be able to sneak into mid rounds (Campbell, LaPorta), a late round guy maybe (Moss), and if he declared how high he could go (Van Ness).

Trying to think of a recent prospect who will be as decorated, but will be drafted as low (if at all), as Max Duggan.

He's already winning post-season awards, will get to go to NY to watch Williams get the Heisman in person, 44 career games played, big jump in his final year...

The physical tools aren't really there...

But hey, Mac freakin' Jones went in the first two years ago. Kenny Pickett went in the first last year despite not being especially talented, and he also had the just stupid amount of games played in terms of experience.

All bets are off.

Also, I think he if he came along again, he might get drafted this time around. A lot of the old prejudices against short QBs and high volume passing QBs are lifting. Granted, he wouldn't be drafted high, but he'd probably get picked as a cheap rookie deal backup for four years.

Apparently after he retired and before Tua was drafted there were no lefty QBs in the league

Yeah, another prejudice. Tua seems to be doing just fine.

I think the last lefty versus lefty QB matchup is still Mark Brunell and Chris Simms.

Olu Fashanu's decision to stay in school is unusual. Some were predicting a high-1st round for him.

He had a chance to be the first OT selected imo.

Speaking of OT's... What are people's perspective on the OT class? I remember Skoronski getting mocked pretty high but I have seen Campbell usurp him recently.

As much as I hate the Pats picking 1st round OL, I have been pretty doom and gloom on our oline recently, and getting a blue chip OT is suddenly a huge need. I just miss Matt Light. Relatively low draft investment, 2nd rounder. He was never elite, but he was always above average at an average price.

Skoronski seems like he could be that guy, but it might be a bit pricey. If he is in range and no other unicorn is dropping in our range, I am down to trade up for him.

I haven't checked out a couple of the guys I'd like to (still need to get around to Blake Freeland and Cody Mauch in particular), but I think the top end of the class is very solid, maybe no one who I'd rank as a truly elite prospect but with a good amount of variety so that any team could find at least one or two guys who fit what they wanted. Beyond that you have some relatively solid guys with athletic limitations who could potentially move inside if needed, as well as some toolsy underachievers who lack the nastiness teams look for. So beyond the first probably four/five guys off the board, you have a choice between someone with a pretty good chance of being a decent starter, or someone who could be a good starter or could flame out.
