Or because the right is using their standard playbook. Take something the left used in legitimate context (like when Trump and his friends were trying to void a valid election) and then take it, shove it continually down our throat, and try to re-purpose it fit their needs/goals.

They did the same thing with "fake news."

I think Forenci is on to something here. I don't know if they're re-purposing it, but it definitely is tiring to keep seeing/reading. Any time i see it now i just have zero interest in whatever follows. But idc as much as some others might, so maybe i'm not the target here.

You see it more because conservative parties all over the place are openly embracing fascism and many people are calling this out so the fascists and their sympathizers are taking the "I'm rubber, you're glue" approach. It's not much more complicated than that, IMO.

I would say they're definitely re-purposing it. Again, take fake news. It was originally used to call out all the bullshit QAnon and other misinformation being spread prior to the 2016 election on Facebook.

Then Trump got ahold of it and started using fake news to label anything that was negative about him in the news even if it was 100% true.

Fascism is the same deal. It was originally being used to call out a literal attempt at authoritarianism or gross over reach by conservatives to try and overturn a legitimate election.

Now it's getting slung around by conservatives to describe Biden and Democrats because the Justice Department is looking into a serious breach at classified information by Trump. Re-used, repurposed, and now it diminishes any legitimacy to the word because of that.

And it worked on you, didn't it? Now anytime it's getting used, whether legitimate or not, you just said you're over it. Taking something legitimate, dumb it down and misusing it, and now a lot of people just tune it out.

So the party who used Putin for 4 years to erase the 2016 election and try to undo the election is upset the other side wants only real votes to count in 2020. LOL.

So instead of allowing a true accounting of it, they cover it up and use the Courts to block free inquiry. The hear no evil, see no evil defense as opposed to the undemocratic "hear no evil, see no evil" response to the 2020 fraud.
