I usually wear ones that are tucked in, but if I showed up in like an untucked oxford, no one would care.

most the coaches dress like elementary PE teachers. half the women in this building wear jeans everyday. no one says anything about professional dress anymore because they're not looking to give us a reason to quit.

I should add that no one ever looks sloppy. well, except a few of the men who dress like Steve Carell in that meme with Ryan Gosling.

I've got a couple Cole Hahn shoes I rock, too. I'll break out the long sleeves, button ups and some athletic quarter-zips once winter hits. They never fixed the AC in my school so it's been hella polos. Maybe I'll break some ties out as the year goes on.

Jeans & school spirit gear (ie all my athletic tshirts) and sneaker Fridays rule

Curious, how's visible tattoos in the teaching world these days? I have some on my inner bicep, so definitely visible with t-shirts. Generally for any "business" meetings I go to, its a button down with rolled up sleeves so still covers that area.

the principal at the last school I worked at was weird about tattoos, usually just making passive-aggressive comments, but at my current school no one cares. and I have some really visible ones.

that said, nothing in our employee handbook says anything about tattoos or piercings, just that you need to be in "professional dress" but that's obviously vague.

Zero cares given about them at my school. Lot of teachers have tattoos that are visible here.

Rolled up sleeves are a must. Students mess with me about it sometimes because they're literally always rolled up, but I can't function any other way.

Yup, my new company is pretty generous with holidays and time off, but I still don't get off Columbus Day. It really is a fake holiday.

It's a bank holiday. I work all brokerage stuff but my group got moved under bank for BS reasons. Today and Vet Day are new holidays for me. I'll take the BS day.

Why is Columbus Day even a thing still? The dude wasn't even the first to discover North America. Not to mention he was not so kind to natives to say the least and other countless shit.

Feel like there's a million better humans we could celebrate and have a day off for.

Well I mean he's right, I think most people know the deal though and just enjoy the free day off.

My company is just doing a volunteer day but we're getting paid so not a bad deal.

The only holiday I celebrate is Thanksgiving and that's just because it's my favorite meal of the year. I appreciate any and all time off I can get.
