Here's the dealio. One player can be picked from a franchise, after that, no one else from that franchise can be picked. With players being on different teams through their careers, you must pick a specific season.
Like with Lebron, if you pick 2020 Lebron, he would be the Lakers pick. You CANNOT pick Lebron from the Cavs or Heat, naturally. With 30 teams, we can only have 5 or 6 participants. 5 means you get a starting 5 and a 6th man. 6 teams obviously just means a starting 5. I was THINKING at the end, all votes get sent to someone and the top 2 would face off in a championship match with votes. Could post the link in the NBA thread and keep it open a few days. 1) Scottyboy 2) Greatest hockey goalie of all time 3) Kyle 4) OSU 5) Fernando 6) SP Last edited by scottyboy; 05-26-2020 at 01:23 AM. |

This would be infinitely more fun if the “one franchise” rule only applied on a per team basis not overall.

Yeah I think it's better to just limit it to one franchise per person. So no taking multiple Lakers but you could take LeBron with the Cavs and Rick Fox with the Lakers

A lot of players have played for a lot of different teams tho eg taking Shaq completely changes how you're gonna pick for the rest of the draft.
edit: or is what you're saying is if you pick shaq from 2000 then you can pick other players who have played for the celtics/heat etc? hmm

If THAT'S what he meant, yeah that's a cool idea. If it's what Brodie said with his example, that's kinda lame |

it's what I assumed he was saying just because that's what all of those football team challenges have been based on haha

But the thing is if you take Shaq and immediately cannot take another Laker, another Heat, another Cav, another Magic, another Celtic, another Sun...that's kind of absurd. It makes Dirk intensely valuable but still.

that's what makes it fun and different and harder. that's the point. otherwise it'd just be a regular all time draft with like, a minor adjustment.

I mean, the idea behind this draft was that any one person couldn’t pick someone from the same team. That’s what makes it individually challenging. Making this a 30 player pool seems unnecessarily complicated. The last few rounds are gonna be miserable.

But I like the idea of if a player played for multiple franchises, all the ones the played for count. So if you pick Lebron, you can't have any other players who played for the Lakers, Cavs or Heat. That's what we're going with. We can have more people sign up. Hope to start it tonight or tomorrow morning if that's gucci with everyone? |

I don’t mean to be a dick but I’m out of we’re doing that. It’s gonna require more time than I can commit to right now.
Edit - your nba thread post has now confused the fuck out of me. Let’s get some clarification on the rules so we can get this started at some point. Last edited by Fernando; 05-26-2020 at 03:32 PM. |

So are we not specifying the year we’re taking them from then? Cause if taking Shaq means I can’t take any Magic, Lakers, Heat, Cavs, Suns, or Celtics, then why bother specifying a year where people can nitpick stat lines instead of just assuming it’s prime Shaq.
I kinda preferred the: state a year, eliminate a team from the collective pool idea. So like 96 MJ going 1 overall would mean nobody could take a player on the bulls again, they’d be forced to take like Trailblazers Pippen or some shit. I’m in either way, I just want some clarity on the rules

If we do the original idea, it'd be a certain year. If not, then no.
The options are: 1) Total expansion draft. One player to represent a franchise. SO if you picked Lebron with the cavs, someone can still take a Heat or Lakers player. But no other cavs player can be picked. `(ala Cavs Boobie Gipson) That was the original idea and what OSU said 2) This one is what I think I interpreted as Fernando's original idea (but could be wrong) Franchise options is limited by person. So if you picked Lebron, you can't pick a Heat, Cavs or Lakers player. But they're still open to anyone else. 3). Brodie's idea - Limited to one person per franchise, but only the team you pick them with. So you could have Cavs Lebron and Lakers Chris Mihm |
