This one shot of the nuke going off behind Arnold and Jamie Lee making out is better than the entirety of Avatar.

This is legitimately the worst opinion Brodie has ever posted.

True Lies is a very good action movie, you keep trying to act like I'm saying it's bad. Avatar is just better because it manages to create an enveloping world with great action and a humanizing story. Also it looks absolutely stellar.

The Avatar story is just a ripoff of Dances Withh Wolves which is a ripoff of Pocahontas. The whole thing was a shitty vehicle to push 3d movies, and 3d technology sucks.

-Pocahontas is a real person but still her story was way different than portrayed and that came out after Dances with Wolves as a movie
-Avatar is the only one that ends with him doing a thorough rejection of his old ways and changing himself solely to be integrated within the new culture, as the other two end with the white dude departing

They're also based sort of on real events, something Avatar isn't. Not that it matters, anyways. A story of a guy integrating himself with a new grouping and realizing they are the heroes of the story instead of the people he had previously represented is a tale as old as time.

And you haven't seen many video games apparently if you think it looks like one.

Avatar is more like Ferngully than Pocahontas, right down to the main hero having to change himself into the race of the people he’s saving.

And yes, it looks like a video game.

The complete lack of cultural impact from Avatar is the most damming thing. No one refers to any of the characters or lines or plot points. It was an experience but it didn't stick anywhere.

It was a great technological leap and the box office reflects the people's interest in it, but 3d didn't catch on in the long run either.

It didn't? There's literally a type of depression named after the movie because people got so sucked into Pandora. The theme park in Disney is the most consistently packed section around. It is HUGE overseas as well.

I don't remember it, so it couldn't have been that good

also 3D glasses suck with real glasses so that meant nothing to me

It's basically live action/cgi Ferngully.

Avatar is very entertaining. But other than the special effects, there isn't an original aspect in the entire plot. The world building is cool.

Oh and the acting is atrocious.

Longer response to this when I’m at keyboard but Brodie is right about how popular it was overseas. Asia ate it up like rice.

The problem with Avatar is that it doesn’t hold up at home, it must be seen in the theater because of the 3D tech. Cameron’s approach to making money is a bit of a double edge sword. There’s been maybe 5 movies that were improved by 3D, everything else was there to mock the Avatar model of charging extra for 3D tickets, it’s why the box office records stopped making sense after 2009, suddenly shit like Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland cleared a billion when it would’ve been like 600 million before.

Glass Onion was great. I really enjoyed it. I'd probably say I liked it better than Knives Out. It used the full cast more. It had enough depth for me to enjoy the story and themes but isn't going weigh on me.
