I thought I had seen Broaddus respond to a tweet saying that report was false but I could be wrong.

Never liked his attitude. Always seemed too cocky for how bad he is.

Is there a link for this? Interesting if true.

I'm content with what we did. I would have liked our draft a lot less if we had traded for Paxton. Jaylon will be an excellent addition to our core on defense, and the guys we took on the DL will make for an excellent rotation. We have some serious secondary depth issues but if we can create disruption through our DL, it will greatly help. Pretty excited to see what Zeke does to improve us as a whole. Maintaining possession, keeping Romo healthy, giving our defense time off the field. That pick has tremendous upside for us.

I read the Patriots would have taken him in the 2nd as well. but did not hear they were trying to trade up for him.

We hope. I'd have drafted Spence or traded down for Jaylon. 3rd pick of the 2nd round was too big of a gamble for my taste.

Here's a great read on Zeke and what he brings to our Offense from a guy who didn't want us to draft him in the 1st.

http://www.footbology.com/scouting-r...ekiel-elliott/

A small snippet

Quote:
Dallas didn’t draft Ezekiel Elliott to run Outside Zone. They didn’t draft him to run strictly zone schemes either. They drafted him to run all of the schemes the NFL has to offer. I remember an interview that former New England Patriots’ defensive lineman Vince Wilfork said about the Dallas Cowboys’ running game on Sirius XM’s NFL Channel that suddenly made a lot of sense to me. I’m paraphrasing here, but what Wilfork said was that the Cowboys ability to run zone and power schemes at a very high level makes defending their running game nearly impossible.
Obviously Zeke will be able to run ALL of our schemes not just 1 or 2 and will put all kinds of pressure on opposing DLs to try to guess if we are going power or zone, run or pass, inside or outside. Its going to be fun to watch.

I'm interested how much the new emphasis on penalizing cut blocks will have an affect how we scheme our run game. Doug Free in particular likes to use cut block's off of the backside to open up at lane in the C gap.

Thanks for the link. I agree with W4HOF that it doesn't sound like they wanted to trade up for him, but that they did want him in the 2nd. Still happy to have used the pick on a guy with that kind of potential though. There were a lot of worse ways to use the pick.

If Zeke has a healthy career then this pick will be fab. The scary thing and the reason why RBs don't get taken high is because they get hurt so often. That's my main fear. Cowboys always tend to bank on health being there and they often only fool themselves.

Whats the deal with Boykin? Anyone think he's worth taking a look at? Something off about that situation. A team with needs in their secondary releases him and would rather go with rookies.
There's more to that than I think we know at this point. Still, he has slot experience and a good season with philly on his resume.
If we do our homework, he could be a good pick up.

Have loved him since college. I'm all aboard.

Ramsey falls to the jag curse? We'll see that the choice made in round 1 was the right one.

Yeah, that knee might not be so good.

It pains me to have to root for you guys now. That's how awesome Zeke is, however.

You have one of OSU's favorite all time players on one of America's most popular teams. Two giant ass fan bases colliding. Jerry Jones knows gold.

I can't remember if anyone was a big Henry fan on our boards but this cements that he wouldn't be a great fit for our scheme, IMO. We needed a guy with patience and the ability to shift gears to find seams. We were able to secure that in Zeke; we likely would have to run a man heavy scheme to maximize Henry's one cut and go skill set.

The only thing that interested me about Henry was his physicality. He may dish out some punishment, but yeah, he's not the guy who brings it all to the table. He can't create, he won't get outside and he lacks Zeke's vision and footwork. Imo, in the NFL, he's gonna be one of those guys that gets hit for a loss or minimal gain frequently and breaks one occasionally.
