I don't even feel like Dems have done this THAT much prior to Trump. Last election (mid-terms) was "this is the most important election in the face of fighting off tyranny," which was largely true. We were at a tipping point whether the MAGA Republicans who believed in election wasn't legitimate would become the mainstay of the Republican party.

The election before that it was Trump for re-election, who was becoming more and more fascistic.

It also doesn't help that the right seems to becoming more and more nutty with many embracing crazy ass shit (anti-science, anti-democracy, culture war, etc.). It's beginning to feel that every election is going to be the most important of our lives if the MAGA and far-right start pushing more of their agenda.

Meanwhile Dems become more...socialist? I guess? But not really? Ah the Dems are a buncha of commies for wanting to...forgive student debt??? Make healthcare affordable? What a bunch of Marxists!
