I think Belfast was my favorite Oscar nominated movie I've seen this year. Still need to see Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, and Drive My Car.

Belfast is fine, it’s well crafted and flooded with great supporting performances. It was humorous and emotional but not in a way that stuck with me too much. Good for Branagh to make a movie that close to his heart that was that good and had that much mainstream appeal (relatively)
Nothing jumps out so much if I were to pick from that group, it’s just nice to see the directors doing their thing in that bunch. Dune is incomplete but is a pleasant Denis experience. West Side Story is familiar but unabashedly Spielberg and there is a lot to appreciate there. Power of the Dog is gorgeous and gave us Bronco Henry but is let down by editing. Licorice Pizza isn’t narratively tight by design but there’s a good amount of PTA branded fun there. Drive My Car might be the best of the bunch, alternatively coming from somebody I was not at all familiar with. A lot to wade through but it handles concealed emotions so well, everything feels earned when the scenes get more explicit and that’s a tough line to navigate |

Vanessa Hudgens has never been good in anything and there is only so much Garfield can do with a Lin Manuel Miranda script.

she played three roles with accents in The Princess Switch, Corey, show some culture
I was just referring to best pic noms so no I did not consider. But I saw way more movies this past year than I have in many previous so I have some thoughts, chiefly that the poster for Spencer with the big dress kicked ass |

I have seen all 3 Princess Switch movies as well as Beastly and multiple other Netflix Vanessa Hudgens movies. I have a card that enables me to speak on it.

The best picture list was meh. Dune is probably the best made movie but it's half a story so I don't know how to feel.
Honestly Tick Tock Boom was probably my favorite. I put it on late at night to just get a feel for it before bed, and I just watched the whole thing. Garfield is so watchable and it all just worked for me. The music and emotion created something more than its individual parts (minus some clunky lyrics.) Garfield should have won. |

This Tick Tick Boom love is surprising because I hated it. I really really did not enjoy it

It was so fucking dumb and I kind of hate it. I'll never watch it again but damnit I'm happy it was made I guess. I enjoyed making fun of it while watching
