Default 2020 NBA Lottery Forum Mock

Lottery Mock... You know the drill... Choose the team you want to select. I won't be participating. Instead as resident soccer mom, I will make sure all you little kiddies have fun and so I will act as moderator (Commish).

Rules: You get 1 trade
- If you agree to a trade with another lottery team owner, then PM me the trade and I will post it. I will not reject anything.

- If you wish to trade with a team (not in the lottery), then PM me your trade idea and I will act as owner of that other team. I'm not trying to be too strict, but at least make sure salaries match and that there is some good reason for me to accept.

How about this idea, since there are only a few of us interested... Let's do a joint mock. No trades. I rotated the names around a little bit, but I think it would still be fun.

Post Pick, Picture, Reasoning for the pick (put some effort here - at least 3-4 sentences).

Whenever you wanna start Kyle, go for it!

Wolves select LaMelo Ball, PG

Has flaws as a shooter and defender but there's not guys that come through with his court vision and passing ability very often. Still only 18 so has time to improve his shot and defense. In a draft with no clear #1 I'll take a shot on a guy that seems to have at least one elite trait.

With the 2nd pick of the draft, the Golden St Warriors select C James Wiseman, Memphis.

The Warriors entertained a trade down scenario here, but before the seconds on their clock could expire, they turned in the draft card for James Wiseman. While it was tempting to select Anthony Edwards, the Warriors simply wanted to bounce back in 2021 with another run to the championship and Wiseman offers them a big upgrade and a more balanced roster (when everyone is healthy). Wiseman's stats at Memphis were dominant in the minutes he played. Per 40, he would've put up 34.2 ppg, 18.6 rpg and 5.2 bpg. While big men are trending downward in the modern NBA, mobile big men are not. Golden St will have a formidable match up for Anthony Davis when they face their west coast adversary.

I'mma throw a curveball here:

The Charlotte Hornets select: Onyeka Okungwu, PF/C, USC

With a lot of young guards and a lack of talent in the front court, the Hornets go with a talented big. He can play the small ball 5 or line at the 4 spot. With the emergence of Graham at the point, along with having Rozier and Monk, bolstering the defense down low is key. Onyeka is an elite defender and good finisher around the rim

The Chicago Bulls select: Anthony Edwards SG Georgia

If Edwards or Ball somehow fall to the Bulls at 4 they would run to the podium to select them (or at least faster than it took me to post this lol). A guard combo of Lavine and Edwards would generate a ton of excitement and potentially be one of the top duo’s in the league. While the fit isn’t ideal since they are both more score first Guards, I think they could gel together over time. I’d imagine Edwards would begin as the 6th man to start his career while Coby White and Lavine start at the Guard spots. The jury is still out on if White will be a top level PG in the league so his presence shouldn’t affect whether the Bulls would select Edwards here

I'll give like 20 minutes for anyone to trade up for Killian Hayes, or I'm just gonna take him, 3 PG is the future

Cavs and Suns agree to a trade.

Suns receive Killian Hayes and Larry Nance.

Cavs receive Kelly Oubre, 2020 1st (10) and a future 1st.

Reasoning: Suns need a bench guard bad so Hayes could start in that role but eventually Rubio is perfect for it. And Hayes gets his time to develop and age wise slots in perfectly with the Suns timeline

Oubre could bring a change in culture to Cleveland like he did the Suns, the other option would be taking Deni Avdija but this way they get an offensive guy in Oubre and a defensive wing at #10 like Vessell, Okoro or Haliburton.

Ricky Rubio - Killian Hayes - Cameron Payne - Ty Jerome - Elie Okobo - Jalen Leque
Devin Booker - Jevon Carter
Mikal Bridges
Cam Johnson - Dario Saric
Deandre Ayton - Aron Baynes

Suns can go out and sign someone like Harris, Bertans, Gallinari, or Grant with all their cap space and try to retain Carter, Saric and Baynes

Hawks select Devin Vassell, SG/SF, Florida State

Best 3 and D prospect in the draft, Hawks need help in that area with Trae and Huerter playing so many minutes and being bad defenders. Should have plenty of open looks from 3 with defenses needing to help on the Trae/Collins pick and roll. Not a great ballhandler but that's not high on the list of needs for Atlanta.

Oops, meant to post yesterday

The Detroit Pistons select...

Tyrese Haliburton, G, Iowa State

Reasoning: The Pistons badly, badly need playmaking from guards and Tyrese is perfect for that. While his weight may be an issue, he can still be a 3 and D type that plays well both on and off the ball. He can also play well alongside Luke Kennard and Rose if that is indeed the future.
