With the #1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft

The Houston Rockets proudly select

Chet Holmgren, C, Gonzaga

Rockets are going with Holmgren over the two PF because of upside, fit, and to avoid redundancy. Sengun has a similar skill set to Smith and Paolo and while it's never a good idea to pass on BPA we feel that Chet is on par with them.

With the #2 pick in the 2022 NBA draft, the San Antonio Spurs proudly select:

Paolo Banchero, F/C, Duke

In a glorious spot, the Spurs opt to go for Banchero, who provides a little more in terms of size compared to others available at this pick. With a plethora of versatile wings and guards, Banchero can slide in nicely and play the 4 or 5 and is more of a post player, which the Spurs need. Provides much needed size, along with his ridiculous talent and potential, to the Spurs

Enjoyed the write ups. I was curious if it was close for HOU to select Chet. Thought it was going to be someone else because of the intense culture they are building there but Chet makes a lot of sense and could bring stability.

Banchero would be a hit in San Antonio. I don't think he's a fit for all teams but I could see him be succesful there or also in OKC.

I see Paolo as more of a 3/4 than 4/5 and the Spurs do have some clutter there but scotty made the right pick. Paolo is gonna score and he's gonna score a lot, along with being kind of an underrated playmaker.

With the #3 pick in the 2022 NBA draft, the Detroit Pistons select:

Jabari Smith, F, Auburn

Need a long term big that can run a great pick and roll with Cade, and Jabari is it. The pressure to create for himself (which is probably his biggest weakness right now) is alleviated with the presence of Cade creating for him, and having a Cade/Saddiq Bey/Jabari shooting trio is a huge boom for a potentially fun franchise.

I might like a couple more guys than him as prospects but they aren't bigs and they wouldn't be as dynamic in a P&R with Cade so you know.

With the 4th pick, the Orlando Magic select Jaden Ivey, Guard, Purdue

Despite being in the lottery year after year, the Magic are always one or two picks away from landing an elite prospect, and it might've happened once again. Jalen Suggs was drafted with a lot of hope, but sadly he had a season to quickly forget. He's now looking more like a guy who's hopes could be a good 6th man at best and provide depth at PG or SG. Could the Magic get lucky with Jaden Ivey? Ivey has the moxie and scoring acumen to be a leader for the Magic paired with Markelle Fultz in the backcourt. With this move, the Magic need to make room and find trade partners for Cole Anthony and/or RJ Hampton. Add a surprising find in Franz Wagner, a healthy Jonathan Isaac and an emerging Wendell Carter Jr, and the Magic could potentially crawl themselves out of the hole they've been in since the Dwightmare.

Taking a point guard in the top 15 three straight years after trading a first for Fultz is an incredibly funny way to build a team

With the 5th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft

The Oklahoma City Thunder proudly select

Shaeden Sharpe, SG, Sorta Kentucky

OKC needs basically everything but guards but I don't think they would pass on the potential. Sharpe would instantly be the best shooter on the team and it would be a ton of fun to watch him grow alongside SGA. Dort & Giddey off the bench seems like where they would always end up eventually

Is Ivey a PG in the NBA? I can't see it.

The Pacers select Tari Eason, PF, LSU

Considered a few different guys but Eason's versatility is something the Pacers are lacking and he was incredibly effective in what was one of the best conferences in the country this year. Great defensive upside, he moves very well for his size and is someone that should be able to switch on the perimeter and cover ground in the NBA. Averaged over a block and steal each per game in both seasons in college, has a knack for getting his hands on the ball and making plays defensively. One of the leading scorers in the SEC despite coming off the bench with less minutes than the guys above him, very agile in the paint for someone 6'8 220. Shot 36% from 3 and 2.5 attempts a game and has solid form so reason to think he'll improve even more there.

Out of the really bad teams this year, the Pacers probably have the best potential for a quick turnaround and if they can do that Eason has shown he has no problem filling a niche role if need be. With Sabonis gone that PF spot is obviously also open next to Turner who they seem to want to keep at least for the time being.

I don't really know if he can pull off being a shooting guard or off ball that much. Though I guess it's not impossible he's Ant-like.

I feel he's more of a post player compared to Jabari, which the Spurs need more. You're right, calling him a 4/5 is a stretch (get it, because he'd be a STRETCH 5), but with the 2 being so close in talent, I leaned need

Also, brodie up with the Kings
