I didn't watch any Panthers games this past season; was Bridgewater playing well or was he just benefiting from having McCaffrey and a lot of receiving talent?

I guess if the Bears think they're close, but I'm not sure I'd have called them a QB away from contending.
Pace and Nagy are desperate. Arizona losing in week 17 allowing them to back into the playoffs is probably the only thing that saved their jobs. Team president Ted Phillips is also said to be on the hot seat, with six playoff appearances in 19 years on the job.

They're going to go out with a bang, and if it doesn't work, they'll no longer be on the job to care about the lost draft picks.

McCaffrey barely played. Teddy was otherwise a fairly competent game manager who didn't really step up in any way when needed.

Ah, makes "sense" for them, then. And while I wouldn't knock a QB needy team trying to get one, but that sounds more like a Watson price, IMO.

Yeah, if it's that many years worth of first round picks. Now, picks extending out that far could include lesser picks. 1st and 3rd this year, 1st next, 2nd in 2023, 3rd in 2024...kind of thing.

Chiefs cut Fisher and Schwartz. Poor Mahomes.

Chiefs relief Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz.

For Mahomes sake, hopefully they have a better backup plan than Mike Remmers.

Kinda excited to see the Bears ruin their franchise for the next decade.

Assuming it actually does happen, I'll probably talk myself into and out of it over and over until the season actually starts, but my thought right now is that he's the best QB they can realistically get right now (since Pace seems to hate Watson for some reason). His contract isn't horrible with Seattle eating a lot of the guaranteed money cap hit as part of the trade. He should have a few more "prime" years before his legs start to go, and he's been extremely durable while also being very good at protecting himself from hits on the field. He's willed Seattle to a winning record every year he's been there, and has only missed the playoffs once.

Wow, it’s almost like the Chiefs should have been drafting OL and defense with their premium picks over the last few years instead of reaching for more skill players.

Wilson isn't the problem as much as mortgaging the future to get him. People gave Ditka so much crap for trading the draft for Rickey and now we have a team willing to trade away 4 years worth of picks.

Despite the "best rivalry in the NFL" I don't really have much disdain for the Bears (the Vikes on the other hand), but I will take some more division titles.

While it still might not be the smartest thing to do, trading a million picks for a RB in a draft is very different than an established top end QB.

One year of picks to potentially four is very different as well.

Man, chiefs should just pick OL with every pick this year.

Shit, even offer future picks to move up for guys if need be

Get the Jets involved in the Wilson to Chicago trade and Seattle ends up with the 2nd pick. Only thing that works for Seattle otherwise they're toast.

If the relationship with Russ has soured that much and you can get an all-time haul, might be worth it. Maybe they can try drafting and developing instead of trading their firsts every other year.

Just put together a for-fun scenario involving the Bears, Seahawks, Panthers, and Texans. Probably can't realistically be done as one transaction, but each team could end up with something like:

Bears:
Russell Wilson

Panthers:
Deshaun Watson
Seahawks 2021 3rd

Seahawks:
Teddy Bridgewater
Bears 2021 1st and 3rd
Bears 2022 1st and 3rd
Bears 2023 2nd and 4th (Conditional that Russ is still on the team)
Bears 2024 3rd and 5th (Conditional that Russ is still on the team)

Texans:
Christian McCaffrey
Panthers 2021 1st and 3rd
Panthers 2022 1st
Panthers 2023 1st

Just be a huge, fun, crazy exchange of players and picks in related deals.

Why would the Jets ever give up #2 to help another team get Russ??
