I mean, it's not, but compared to what Belton is making it is.

With Pittman and Pierce both being top targets and Campbell only 9 more games, this could be mutually beneficial. He also has worked with Mike Groh our WRs coach.

As it stands, the Giants do not have a player on the roster under contract/realistically in long term plans other than Wandale at the receiver position. This wouldn't change that as Campbell is up after this year, but it would allow us to evaluate Jones, continue to compete, and see if he can audition for a role on the team in 2023.

Compensation would unlikely be anything more than a 6th round pick, which at this time we likely have 11 picks in the 2023 draft. It would be hard to imagine that we use 11 picks for the second year in a row.
Wanted Campbell at the deadline but glad we got him now. Elite tools, unfortunate but not alarming injury history and had a lot of instability around him. I like the fit and think he will probably start out in the slot where they like to feature that guy in the short to intermediate/presnap motion. When Wandale/Shepard come back I could see him splitting some time with Slayton out wide.

Slayton got just about as much as I expected, but choosing between him, Hardman, DJ Chark at Z/deep threat seemed like a no-brainer especially when you'd expect short-term contracts from all. Slayton and DJ have always had pretty good chemistry. The expectations we placed upon Slayton, still a young player, were probably a little unfair as you don't expect a late round pick to be your leading receiver 3/4 years. Think he is a much better fit as a 2/3 WR.

Waller trade seems mutually beneficial--not a robbery though with his expected utilization it might turn out that way. 30 y/o with really 3.5 yrs of NFL snaps, good amount of soft tissue injuries, and what seems like a mismatch of personalities between coaching/admin and player. You have to see why Raiders were okay with moving on, but this player is not that far separated from being in the same breath as Kelce, Andrews, Kittle at the position.

I still think there is room for another player in this receiving group, but it certainly doesn't seem like there needs to be as much of a priority. With Slayton, Hodgins, Shepard, Campbell, Cager all on short-term deals, a rookie seems like the most sensible investment.

Robinson would be a perfect piece for the DL. Leo, Dex, Arob, and Nacho - That's a huge improvement from last year.

Feliciano signed with the 49ers. We either will be using Brederson there or FA/draft.

That was somewhat unexpected, to be honest. I didn't think anyone would want him but us lol.

We're in a tight spot at center now. The options in free agency are dwindling and relying on a rookie center typically isn't a good idea. Bredeson or Lemieux have flirted with the center position but nothing too serious. Going into the season with a bunch of unproven commodities at center is a bold strategy but we sorta did that last year and we did okay there.

To be fair, Feliciano was by far one of the biggest disappointments last year. Although if the 49ers want him of all teams, it does make me wonder if we're missing out on something...

By far the biggest disappointment?? lmao what were you expecting?

I thought he was serviceable and got better as the year went on. He wasn't all that bad considering it was his first year playing the position. The problem is his age and how much can he develop at the position before he's too old. He was a nice stop-gap who helped bring some toughness to the OL while we got back on track but we had to try for an upgrade.

I mean, I thought he was going to be a solid piece for us. Nothing elite, but a good stop gap. I just felt like he was pretty meh and just bad at times. I'm still happy we signed him, though. Can't have every position being elite on the OLine. Need to make these types of signings to just get by year-to-year.

We've met with JSN and Cam Smith. I'd love either of those with our 1st rounder.

JSN is the real deal, if he falls to us you have to pick him but still think he's 75% a slot player. You don't base an offense around Wandale, but you could definitely do that with JSN.

Corner is loaded and as we have said previously there are two players on the roster past 2023. Signing McCain was smart, think he's a better in slot coverage than Darnay who probably should just be moved full-time into a box safety role.

Gonzalez, Witherspoon, Porter Jr. probably all gone by the time we pick. Banks, Forbes, Smith seem to comprise that second tier. Kelee Ringo, DJ Turner (slot), Tyrique Stevenson, Phillips(slot) probably third tier. Brents, Garrett Williams, Darius Rush, Eli Ricks, Blu Kelly probably fourth tier.

15 guys, but there's more still that could be borderline starters, but these are probably all players you'd expect to see play significant snaps on defense in their first year. We should double dip.

Also letting Love go was the right move. One of the most replaceable positions on defense and although he doesn't have a 1-1 replacement, there are guys who can share responsibilities. Riley Moss is a guy I think could be a 1-1 replacement albeit rookie learning curve.

Not sure why we signed Crowder but I’m guessing he’s not guaranteed to make the team. Draft pick, Slayton, hodgins, Robinson, crowder, shep, campbell, Johnson and we’ll see who else. Do wonder if Robinson is going to be a pup guy

Good to have back end depth in case. I'm fine with it.

Also signed CB Oruwariye from Detroit.

I’m cool with back end of the roster vets for cheap. Helps mask our intentions in the draft and allows us to go BPA.

I think depth signings are just really important. Get guys who can compete in training camp. Get decent players who can provide depth for you too because the NFL is just brutal and depth is so important.

Yeah I mean this is what we asked for, we just needed bodies to compete in this phase. All of these one year contracts really don't change long-term plans, especially the VSB contracts.

FA Summary
Spoiler!

Current Roster (73):

Offense (38) :
Spoiler!

Defense (32):

Spoiler!

Looking at this it's fairly apparent that the defense needs more attention, and hopefully that comes in way of DL, Edge because those two positions are extremely top heavy. We have 73/90 on the roster prior to the draft in which we have 10 picks, and possibly UDFA's/FA's.

Unless Leonard Williams restructure/extension comes will necessitate only VSB contracts without guarantees. There are a few guys remaining as outside corners that could make some sense including bringing back Moreau.

CB
Shaquill Griffin
Marcus Peters
William Jackson
Rock Ya Sin
Joejuan Williams
Tre Flowers
Rashad Fenton
Darius Phillips

The DL group isn't as appealing other than A'Shawn Robinson who we already spoke with and apparently got held up on due to medicals. The Edge group has some talented guys with headaches, and a bunch of older dudes who probably will wait to sign until after the draft anyway.

Edit:

The other conclusion that should be made is--we aren't making 10 picks in this draft. Whether it be to move around to secure the player(s) we want, or to trade for future assets, there aren't 10 spots on the roster for these players. Between the guarantees given out to acquisitions, our own FA's and the 11 picks last year a ton of spots are already accounted for. So unless those three 7 rounders are going to be specifically utilized to get ahead of UDFA pool, can't see it.

Didn't sign one OL either. Hoping some more guys shake loss or going to be hit heavy again in draft.
