there's several of us who frequent the podcast world and personally, the podcasts are much more eloquent with their content than my attempt to summarize them. so let's share podcasts and/or specific episodes here.

i've heard a few recently that i recommend:
1. More Perfect - The Gun Show

For nearly 200 years of our nation’s history, the Second Amendment was an all-but-forgotten rule about the importance of militias. But in the 1960s and 70s, a movement emerged — led by Black Panthers and a recently-repositioned NRA — that insisted owning a firearm was the right of each and every American. So began a constitutional debate that only the Supreme Court could solve. That didn’t happen until 2008, when a Washington, D.C. security guard named Dick Heller made a compelling case.

the history of the NRA was surprising and fascinating- how politics eats an organization.

2. Under the Skin - Carne Ross

A former British diplomat in the lead up to the Iraq war, Carne experienced first-hand the lies and self-serving discourse of political power. After a profound crisis, he began a quest for a more just way of living together. In this moving and deeply personal talk, Carne explains what he discovered when he studied philosophies and visited communities from varied corners of the planet, and why he thinks anarchism is the best way forward.

Carne Ross is a radical writer and thinker about world affairs who leads Independent Diplomat (ID), an innovative non-profit service that helps democratic governments and political groups use diplomacy to achieve justice. Their clients include the democratic Syrian opposition and the Marshall Islands which, with ID's help, led a large coalition of countries to achieve a stronger UN climate agreement in Paris. Carne is a former senior British diplomat who resigned over the 2003 Iraq war.

i subscribed for about a month but only listened to a few as his voice was too drony and monotone for me. but i'm a fan of his, so the nature of the content was solid.

russillo's take on the nba refereeing situation is on point on the intro to his recent barkley episode.

players have become dependent on tricking refs to get calls and now they've become entitled to these calls. while NBA refereeing leaves some to be desired, there's a problem with decorum and common decency with how players interact with referees.

No one will deny that marriage is hard. In fact, there's evidence it's getting even harder.

Eli Finkel, a social psychologist at Northwestern University, argues that's because our expectations of marriage have increased dramatically in recent decades. "[A] marriage that would have been acceptable to us in the 1950s is a disappointment to us today because of those high expectations," he says.

The flip side of that disappointment, of course, is a marriage that's pretty amazing. Those of us who can meet the high expectations of modern marriage, Finkel says, may find "a level of marital fulfillment that was out of reach until pretty recently."

This week we go back in time and look at the history of marriage and reflect on where we are today.

hidden brain is usually hit or miss for me but this episode was one of the best podcasts i've had the pleasure of listening to. i highly recommend for anyone into psychology and/or married. the insights are practical for any relationship.

Really enjoying Waking Up with Sam Harris Podcast, that guy is deep. I love his conversations. I found him while listening to an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience he was on. All of his episodes with Joe are a must listen
